So, I'm writng this post from Mozilla 1.3 on ManDrake Linux 9.1 running Apache 2.0.InactiveX wrote:Use Linux instead.
Active Diectory really, really slowed down the "Preparing network connections" during login procedure. And when WinXP logged into the Active Directory Server, it was really, really slow. Overall, its fairly impressive. It reminds me of Microsoft WIndows Small Business Server on steriods. It uses a similar MCC server management startup program when the desktop loads. I installed and messed around alittle with Active Directory, DNS, FIle, Printer and Applications Servers. WinServer 2003 uses the standard XP ICF (firewall). I thought that was pretty whimpy! I doubt I will do much more with WinSrvr2K3.
Specially, when I can do it all for free!
And two cpu's in every PC!
Eh???? I didn't say that!!!! hyperspace did.Nokyar wrote:I really think you have a network issue, a second nic, dns, internet not ok,... just check and when fixed it should run like a charm.InactiveX wrote: Active Diectory really, really slowed down the "Preparing network connections" during login procedure. Yes, it was me. I think a big part of the problem, for me, wasn't the network as much as the overall BP6 performance. RAM, CPU speed, etc. More RAM on a faster system, probably wouldn't see the issues I saw.InactiveX wrote:Eh???? Only thing is its still too easy to crack. Out of box install cracked in about 45 minutes. The same tools for cracking win2k can be used on 2003. If its SQL server just run a SQL push and bang. If its IIS6 just runs neesis or canvas and your in. I'll stick with my Linux boxes for really important stuff. If you go ahead and harden it, its ok but then its the patch/reboot nightmare and the virus nightmare. I have better stuff to do then cruise the Windows update page.
