What voltage is my video card?
What voltage is my video card?
I have a chaintech geforce 4 mx 440. Manual does not specify 3.3v or 1.5 v. What is newer? I think 1.5 volt cards. Does anyone know? It says 2x 4x compliant and works in my bp6 but won't work in an msi 845 pro II that calls for a 1.5 only. Are all newer cards 1.5v?

The card should be AGP 2.0 and it should work with 1,5 or 3,3V. It should work in your MSI board, too.
BP6, RU BIOS, XP SP3, ACPI, 2x366@523(1,95V), Pentalpha HS + 1x 12cm fan @5V, 768MB, Powercolor Geforce 3, RTL8139D NIC, Terratec EWS64L, Samsung M40 80GB (2,5''), LiteOn CDRW

The 440 MX graphics chipset on will support AGP 2.0 and 3.0 specifications. AGP 2.0 and 3.0 will support 1.5 or 3.3 volts. Based on what I have read, the 440 MX chipset supports 3.3 volts. That makes sense if your card works in the BP6 but not in your MSI mainboard. I found this about the MSI 845 Pro2:
One AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) 4x slot (1.5V only)
One AGP (Accelerated Graphics Port) 4x slot (1.5V only)

AGP voltage was often an issue with older Matrox G400 cards, which were not AGP 2.0 / 4x compliant, so they would not run with 1,5V and required 3,3V. Even the newer revisions of the G400 work in 1,5V slots. The G400 is much older than the GF 4 MX. I doubt Chaintech produced a card that does not meet AGP 2.0 specs by that time. Of course, it´s theoretically possible...

Thanks all for the reply's....yea I got this card off ebay some time ago for like $70 so I am sure it must be a 3.3v...and note that MSI specifically says 3.3 will not work. So time to upgrade. I want to transfer all my VHS to DVD. The all in wonders s/b good for this eh? Why do they all say svideo out but no video in.......do the have video in?

This shows how the card edge should be for all types of AGP cards. You can always compare it to yours to see what you have.
