BP6 2xceleron 466 @ 466
TNT2 M64
CDRW Samsung 52
FDD
Sagate 120GB ST3120026A
PSU Feel 300W
LAN, extra ISA IO card, Scanner SCSII
I don't thing that it's a power problem I already tried with only 1 hdd attached with no CD and other extra stuff.
I have this problem from the begining with this mobo but i thought that is the IBM hdd related, now I have new Seagate and its the same. I thing that it's something to do with the drivers beetwen Windows->BIOS

its is due to HPT666 controller - if you like your HDDs and Optical or any other kind IDE drives alive and kicking, so disconnect them from this controller and buy a decent promise controller PCI card

I confirm the same clicking prob while shutting down on w2k ever since I updated Bios to RV w/hpt366. With 1 HD on ide3, there are 3 clicks. With 4 HD on ide3 & 4, there are many clicks. Using v1.25.10 hpt drivers as the v1.30 would only allow 1 HD on ide3 or 4. The clicks are to a level that unsettles me abit and comparable to a finger-snap.
There is a theory from some guy around the web who says only Samsung drives shut down properly on the BP6. I posted a link to it here on the board, will search for it later. Personally I had trouble with three different Seagate drives on the HPT366, no probs with a WD 20GB, Fujitsu 40GB, Samsung 120GB.
But it might be the power connector or PSU. I recently encountered occasional freezes on my BP6, and the DVD burner (on the standard IDE) first refused to burn DVDs, later I couldn't even burn CDs.
The culprit were the power connectors. Or the PSU itself, I'm not absolutely sure. I replaced it and everything is fine, the DVD burner works perfectly, no freezes at all.

BP6, RU BIOS, XP SP3, ACPI, 2x366@523(1,95V), Pentalpha HS + 1x 12cm fan @5V, 768MB, Powercolor Geforce 3, RTL8139D NIC, Terratec EWS64L, Samsung M40 80GB (2,5''), LiteOn CDRW
the culprit for these klicks as they are the sound of the HDD head parking and striking the barrier... is the driver of HPT and the HPT controller itself, as I remeber, when I had drives on it, they clicked with HPT BIOS 1.28 but not with 1.25 or drivers, I do not remember, but since my drive actually almost died on it, I have never ever used it again and had no problem....
