Boinc stands for Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ Boinc is an operating enviroment inwhich different distributed proccessing projects can operate. It is still in beta testing. The only projects for Boinc presently is Astropulse & Setiathome. I don't know of any other groups using it at this time. Boinc is open so you could choose between these projects and any others which write a client for Boinc. Boinc was setup with Seti in mind but not exclusively for Seti use. If Folding@Home decided to they could make use of Boinc.
The SETI@Home project is comming to an end. Boinc will be used for newer SETI distributed processing project like Astropulse and others to come.

Remember, this is a Beta test of the software. Bugs will be found and corrected. By running the software you are helping the debug process. If you are looking just at the stats, forget it. The stats generated are for nothing. All the stats will reset to zero when Boinc goes live.

I would guess the best answer is to go to the message board and see if the problem has been reported or if the project admins already know about the problem.
