bp6 with passive cooled cpus

Post by martin B »

now, the build of my passive cooled bp6-Box is nearly finished.
so you can have a look at it, in the (personal)Picture Gallery here.

the case is 40X40x13,2 cm big, and can contain a bp6 (lol) ,5 Hard-Disks,
a 51/4"-Drive but no floppy.
so it will be used as fileserver, ... ........better ideas?

Excellent! Nice surface finish in the machining of the surfaces, clean silver soldering, easy assembly with primo threaded low-profile fasteners. Really the way to go for a truely quiet PC. An all around well designed & executed creation.

for testing cpu-teperature i have installed gentoo-linux,
and read out the temp with lm-sensors.
the results are:
32°C per CPU at idle or less then 25% cpuload
42°C " " after compiling xfree in 7h at one Job (60% cpuload)
and (the reason for me to change the al-block inside to cooper)
52°C per CPU after compiling gnome-enviorment in 12h on 4 Jobs (100%cpuload)
the CPU's are running at 466Mhz(non overclocked) with 640MB RAM.

52C is not bad for constant 100% load with no fans

you may look into wider heat disipation for lower temps at 100% loads

maybe add some fins to the current copper sink

that may help with heat disapation
