Security warning! - Fake "Account Alert" email

Post by Tim »

Just got this in my inbox today.

If you get an email like this, do not click on the link. The link takes you to a .pif file "Confirmation_Sheet.pif". We have not sent out any emails like this. If you accidentally did, then update your virus protection and do a full system scan. Log in and change your password then let us know so we can investigate.

Dear Valued Member,

According to our terms of services, you will have to confirm your e-mail by the following link, or your account will be suspended within 24 hours for security reasons.

MailScanner has detected a possible fraud attempt from "161.246.71.20" claiming to be http://www.bp6.com/confirm.php?account=tim@bp6.com

After following the instructions in the sheet, your account will not be interrupted and will continue as normal.

Thank you for your attention to this request. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely, Bp6 Abuse Department
