Oh well.... It looks like it's all been forced down the plughole now. Today we received an e-mail from Microsoft, requesting the immediate take-down of the download page, which of course means that AutoPatcher is probably history. As much as we disagree, we can do very little, and although the downl...

What sticks, how many, and how much? Ive been looking for 256 meg sticks (cheap) for ever. I don't want to pay $30 per stick and it seems like thats all I ever find on eBay. Really? I bought two brand new sticks last week for £18 (about $35 I think). Eventually (If my wife lets me) my office will ...

Brilliant hyperspace!

I really think Tomohiro Kawada should get a mention for kickstarting the whole SMP Celeron thing in the first place.

Re: A couple of changes

Turns out TWO of the 3 sticks I have are bad  (I have 2 PQI and one Micron brand 256mb PC133), which is weird, because these are fresh pulls from old, WORKING, computers at school. Only the micron one is error free. Perhaps the PQI are PC133 modules that actually don't work at PC100 (I've on...

I'm sure you can do it that way, but you may run into problems if the flash procedure goes wrong. If that happened, the BP6 may not be able to recognise HDDs any more, but would likely still see a floppy drive.

Good work. :)

Why can't you use a boot floppy to flash BIOS? BP6 will not boot from a flash drive.

One more thing - are you planning on overclocking the BP6? Those Celeron 300s you have in there are great for overclocking! There's every chance you could get 450MHz out of them, possibly a bit more. Have a look at long-time member hyperspace's overclocking FAQ here . And let us know how you get on!...

Hello trowakage, and welcome! Sounds like you're making good progress there, do keep us updated. Great to see new people on the board, especially if they're willing to mod their BP6s! You don't stand much chance of getting to 133MHz FSB. The BX chipset just isn't up to it, especially in SMP. One of ...

When I had to deal with them, the stress was on them making sure I guaranteed that only one system was running that COA. I've heard it said that the quickest way to convince them of this is to claim your motherboard was fried by an electrical fault/lightning storm. I'm glad I don't have to deal wit...

Yeah, I remember why the idea occured to me now. A colleague has a glass-topped table and it took me a good ten seconds to figure out why the optical mouse wasn't working (d'oh!).

You'll have to experiment.
