grsshppr_km: Xcellent information! Especially, this link in the article:
http://home.att.net/~garyheadlee/services.htm
Sent an email to find if he still repairs BP6's. His page says all capacitors over 1000uF will be replaced. $55 for a BP6. Very interesting.
Thanx...

HPT 366 Controller
The BP6 manuals states that the HPT366 controller is only designed for mass-storage devices, not CDROM's. I have been running a hard drive on my BP6 since August 1999, but I boot from a SCSI drive.
If the controller card has an external SCSI connector, you should be able to use an external Sun SCSI drive. Providing the SCSI drive and controller card are compatible (Ultra2 -to- Ultra2, for example). Make sure the external SCSI drive is terminated properly. Some controllers are auto-sensing. Oth...

The system temperature sensor isn't really case temperature. Here's a picture of RT3 on the mainboard: http://216.170.15.226/index_files/rt3.jpg You can use thermal compound for the greenie . There wasn't any compound under mine when I looked. Hopefully, someone else will have some cooler information.
