OBTW, the v-in on the regulator does NOT get re-connected to the board at the old regulator terminal. It goes to the +5 volt terminal on the ATX power supply plug! Please see Yoshiro's "Original PIII Mods" per this website.

LM317T regulator, just cut old one at leads, didn't even remove from board. Soldered new in place (must add heatsink!)

C10 was 100, now 1000

In-line cap with 317 is 1200 to 1500, positive to v-in on reg. and neg. to ground.

Thats it!

Dual celerons with some of the PIII mods helps overclock!

I decided to try my hand at the PIII mods, C10 replacement, voltage regulator replacement, add wires to sockets on underside of board, modified NEO S370's, 1100E PIII's, etc. Well, I had partial success, 1 PIII in either socket at 110 Mhz, FSB. But I wanted dual! So just for grins I decided to leave...

New MOBO DOA?

I just installed a "new" Gigabyte GA-6VTXD dual 370 mobo. Upon bootup unless I get into setup right away the power supply shuts down in about 3 to 5 sec. I have gotten as far as the 98SE boot disc but only once. mobo identifies cpu, ram and drives(the one time I got it to go that far). I have tried ...

only sees one cpu

After I have left the soft bios and set cpu voltage and fsb, it shows number of CPU's as ", 1" (this is with cap replaced, new voltage regulator and one wire connecting 2 pins on the back of the board on each socket and the modified 370's plus 1100E's in place). At this point of the boot if I have m...

Partial Success

I just completed the PIII mods and it will fire up at 1209 (110 Mhz)! However, even though it sees poth CPU's to set FSB and voltage in the soft menue, when it continues on, it sees only one when it continues boot. Even stranger, it doesn't matter which CPU I pull, it will still boot up. Guess I won...

Boy do I look stupid!

Thanks Derek! Of interest to all? After fixing "dead" board, I can now boot up at 605! These 366's have never gone over 571 dual and 594 single! Version 1 board, 2 366's, FEP-32's, Arctic Silver Thats right, air cooled only! Now to finish conversion to dual 1100E's. I'll keep you posted. Regards, ja...

think I killed BP6!

I just completed the EC10 and voltage regulator change-out on a BP6.

Now when I boot it up floppy drive light stays on and I get as far as

"verifying DMI pool data...........Success" and system hangs, will not goto boot disc and floppy light stays on.

Any ideas?

Dumb question: Raid controller card and on-board IDE control

This may seem like a dumb question but: I am looking at a Tyan Tiger dual 370 board. It only has 2 IDE connectors, one or both can be HPT66/100. I have 6 IDE devices on my BP6 and of course 4 IDE connectors. CD burner and DVD-RAM burner on IDE 1, CD-ROM and DVD player on IDE 2. 20 gig hdd on IDE 3, ...

changed out BP6 for VP6, now will not boot!

I moved my G400, 1 stick Corsair PC133, 128 meg ram, reformatted 20 gig WD hdd, floppy, keyboard from my BP6 to a "good" VP6 with 2 good PIII 1100E, 100 meg fsb CPU's. VP6 led comes on, drives power-up but no "beep" code and no video. Board won't boot. Moved items back to BP6 all A-OK. Sent board ba...

changing out moterboards

I have a BP6 running one PIII 1100. I want to change it out with a VP6, no other changes, all hardware and software to remain the same. My question is this: Must I wipe my drives and start form scratch or not? I have 2 drives, a 20gig 7200rpm ATA100 and a 60gig 7200rpm ATA100 both running on the HPT...

How high, 466's?

Don't quote me but somewhere in the deep dark past, I remember seeing a water and tec rig that went 722 dual!

I think it was posted here, under water cooling?

I will look in my "archives" to see what I have.

Dual PIII's on BP6

What mods did you make to get both PIII's working on the BP6?

If you are selling both, how much for the fully moded board?

flakey firewire cards

I to have a generic firewire card with the same problem. However, my problem seems to have been fixed by: moving it to PCI 3!(I know, shares with HPT366 controller!) My card has a plug and jumpers to allow me to use a power source external to the bus! so I used it. Now my firewire not only works but...

To: RRLeadford Re; MSI board

I have a question, I have a chance to pick up an MSI 694D Pro. I have 2 PIII 1100E's but have been told that this board will not go above 933 @ 133. True or not?

Should I buy a VP6?

I have a chance to buy a VP6 that has only seen a couple of weeks of light duty. Price is well under $100 USD. It looks like I can move everything from my present BP6(sob!) to the VP6. I dearly want to go back to dual CPU's! I have 2 PIII 1100, 100 mhz fsb cpu's and am running one on my BP6 @ 110 fs...

Northbridge ("greenie") cooling

Make sure to first remove the green heatsink, scrape off any paste, replace witha VERY thin layer of Arctic Silver(worth its' weight in gold, no kidding!), replace heatsink and add a fan. I got mine at Radio Shack, 'bout $4 if I remember right but if you have an old 486 fan it will work and even fit...
