Why don't you connect the DVD to IDE 1 or 2 as a slave device?

NB Each IDE port can serve two IDE drives, one as master, the other as slave. The jumpers on the backs of the IDE drives need to be set for master or slave.

BP6 Appears On Toast

At breakfast time this morning, I had the shock of my life. I had just made a round of toast. As I bit into my first piece, I was astonished to see a perfect image of the Abit BP6 motherboard on the slice. I whipped out my digital camera and took a photo, which you can see below. I'm at a complete l...

US Intends To Retain Control Of DNS

The US government has announced that it intends to retain control of the Domain Name System, rather than hand control of the DNS to ICANN next year as had been proposed.

Hi there mdutka!

Very nice work indeed, and some great pictures. I would be inclined to replace the coil depicted in your third picture. The wire has become blackened - not a good sign.

Keep us posted!

Fully Submerged Cooling

While perusing www.hackaday.com - a great site by the way - I came across this site, with pictures of a PC submerged in vegetable oil.

The entire computer minus the disk drives is submerged and has been running for over a year.

Some pictures I took today of my "7V Trick" adaptor. As I said earlier, I butchered an old pass-through cable to make it. The pins in the molex plugs can be removed and swapped around by squashing the retaining clips on the pins with a small screwdriver. Having removed them, the clips must be bent b...
