What should i do?

Post by kuun »

hey guys..

so.. i lost my old unmodded dual 500 SCSI system... :'(

i managed to save a non-working BP6

so.. i could go the route of fixing this one..

i ALSO have 2 PPGA-FCPGA 370 the "Neo S370" adapters i bought off someone on this forum.. IX iirc??? dunno been too long..

now

here are the pieces i was able to keep in my posession...

4x 366 sl36c step
2x 500
1x p3 1000/256/133 1.7v

1x ver 1.0 Abit Bp6

no apparent cap issues..

time.. parts.. nothing is really an issue.. i have a little money i can spend but not a whole lot..

would love to get this board functional again.. i miss my old BP6..

i would like to go with the dual p3.. alas but i've only been able to aquire 1.. maybe if i can find one on ebay for a decent price (last i heard they were insane prices) i would revive this girl as my storage server..

now..

when i do revive this.. i will not be running microsoft on it :) Ubuntu is my new friend

anyhow.. i also do have a Kt7a-RAID

im keeping that badboy for when i go all SATA.. ima make a raid array of all my 80-150 IDE's

but i got a duron 1.2 overcloackable to 1.4 aircooled

now.. i already have a SAN planned for my b-day.. just a 2drive network case.. no drives.. ima put 2 of my 80's in it.. it'll be my network storage for everyone on the network...

im also thinking of taking the rest of my drives and put them in the KT7a-raid.. and get a TV in/out card and put a DVD player in it.. and rip my DVD's to my comp.. and watch em off it.. instead of scratching my discs :)

so.. if im not mistaken.. the BP6 with some good CPU's could rip faster than a duron 1.2@1.4 (unless my XP 2200 will work in it)

so what should i do? i wanna get the BP6 up and running (albeit a bit less power hungry as the last one) i've got a KT7a-raid.. and a CPU to go with it..

should i try to revive the old BP6? and use it as a nice linux workstation?

give me some ideas

go crazy

hmm

you know..

i was thinking..

Derek.. you ever considered a blog space on here?

so we can keep each other updated easier?

i've made several discoveries.. i feel i should share..

maybe something between the headlines and articles.. that displays maybe the last 2 blogs.. or maybe an option to list multiples.. and then display more inside the box.. with a scrollbar?

i dunno.. could post links to threads.. but mainly is jsut for like quick "hey check this out! :link:"

maybe short description for the blog subject..

just musing..

maybe we can think about this after the speed upgrade?

my best advice is to steer clear of te phenoms until the 9550/9650 or better comes out..

as the current phenoms are on the b2 chip which has the TLB errata.. but the b3's will have this problem corrected
