What is the trick?????

Post by gopher »

I have been messsing with this problem for a few days
I want to get a windows booting on a WD120GB ATA-100 drive connected to the hpt366 controller
i tried ever possible combinations of bios/windows versions
it always freezes at "setup is starting windows"
If I install and boot to a HD on the ata33 controller, works fine. And
when i add a second hd on the hpt controller, it works!!!

Whats the magic trick to get this thing booting from the hpt366??

Thanks

Attach the drive on ata33 controller during installation.
After complete installing the hpt366 drivers (check for the right version!) you can put the drive to the hpt366 controller and set the BIOS boot option to EXT-SCSI.

the trick is to not use something that needs a windows driver for your windows OS partition
