I've got the same problem as you.

Hi I have the same problem as you. I have a similar generic firewire PCI card with the Lucent chipset and the BP6 doesn't detect it at all. I am now in the process of trying different slots.

I know this post is almost a year old, but hopefully someone out there can offer any suggestions?

Wrong PCI version

Post by sslarsen »

Hi, I had the same problem with IEEE 1394 pci card, and this is what I found out.

The IEEE 1394 pci cards require a pci 2.2 slot, and on the bp6, the version is 2.1.

And the IEEE 1394 are not compatible with 2.1.

If you really want a IEEE 1394 pci port, then get either at soundblaster audigy with IEEE 1394, or a combo USB2/IEEE 1394 card. Theyu will both most likely work on pci 2.1. But check the manufactor of the combo card, if you are going for that.

flakey firewire cards

Post by jaybird »

I to have a generic firewire card with the same problem. However,
my problem seems to have been fixed by:

moving it to PCI 3!(I know, shares with HPT366 controller!)

My card has a plug and jumpers to allow me to use a power source
external to the bus! so I used it.

Now my firewire not only works but my HPT366 controller that everybody and his brother gripes about BOTH work fine using IRQ 11

Only glitch seems to be that during capture the video is a bit jumpy but on playback it is just fine!(go figure  )

My friend,I dont think that you have right, because I have recently bought
an IEEE 1394 card (VIA chip) which says that is compliant with pci 2.1,AND DOESNT WORK AT ALL!

I have been running a generic 1394 card with the same chip set in PCI 3
for over 4 years with no problems!
