Installing Promise UltraDma 133

Post by clement »

Hello everybody,

I bought a seagate 200Gb ... and I got the surprise to get only 137Go. So, after searching a little on bp6.com, I bought a Promise Ultradma133 which works fine.
BUT (of course, there is a but) I have many problems. My question is :

On which slot should I plug my Promise ?
At the moment, it is on PCI2, but I have the following conflicts on IRQ 18 :

IRQ 18 WinXP Promise Ultra133 TX2 (tm) IDE Controller
IRQ 18 Contrôleur d'hôte ouvert PCI vers USB NEC
IRQ 18 Highpoint Technology Inc. HPT366 Ultra DMA 66 Controller
IRQ 18 Highpoint Technology Inc. HPT366 Ultra DMA 66 Controller

Thanks in advance for your help (other questions may follow ...
 )

This may be normal. Which version Windows are you running? Is ACPI enabled in the BIOS?

Hey,

To answer your questions, I'm running XP, with ACPI enabled, RU bios (with HPT).
Anway, I've solved my problem, and now my system is running fine
I've plugged the Promise on PCI1, and now it's only in conflict with my gfx card (which is not important, as far as I know).

I have my Promise card in slot 3. You may experience problems, however, if you use slot 3 and the HPT. I never use the HPT.
