Atto Scsi Ul2d Controller Card

Post by locomo10 »

Hi all,
I bought this card:
http://www.compdisk.com/index.cfm?fusea ... 00pw&ID=32
as un upgrade to an old Tekram SCSI .
(that and and a refurbed 15k Cheetah)
But it doesn't even post on my venrable BP6.
I'm running at 100 fsb and tried the first two (closest to AGP)
PCI slots with no luck. Im running Win XP on my BP6 (But it shouldn't matter w/out (posting).
However it does post and even loads driver on my Win 2000 Dell.
machine at work. I've tried PNP in the BIOS off and on to no avail. Do I try manually changing IRQ's etc. now or just send it back?
Thanx

actually to be honest

i'd get an adaptec

adaptec is universally the best card for SCSI

they been around longer and have perfected their hardware and drivers

go adaptec.. there is WAY more support

adaptec is all i'll ever use

Yeah, but this card was less than $40 and does 80 Mbytes/sec
(when it works).
Anyway I pulled all the other PCI cards out,
disconnected the HPT drive, a USB device and (gasp) a CPU .
I changed the Delayed Transaction and the PNP flags in
the BIOS and tried the SCSI card in all the slots.
This card and the BP6 are supposed to be
2.1 PCI compliant, but they ain't playing together.
I guess I'll muck with:
PIRQ_0 Use IRQ No. ~ PIRQ_3 Use IRQ No:
next but this is starting to remind me of when I first got this
board back in OCT '99.

Get on Ebay and get an Adaptec or Compaq or even a Dell. They all are either Adaptec or LSI chipsets and they are supported very well. I picked up a Dell/Adaptec 39160 for $35. That's 160Mhz. My Chetah's respond very nicely to it. You just have to wiat for the good deals. I picked up another lot of 5 Chetahs that are brand new for $139.00. Thats cheap!!! for 18Gig drives. You put a couple in your maching and watch them fly. They are usually 80 pin but with the right adapter($10 each) they work great. My Bp runs great on this setup. Its been up for 74 days this time. Only reason it went down before was a n extended power failure. Its Linux though.
