Like hyperspace said, tell us your driver revision. Use a reference driver, on-beta. I think 41.09 should be ok, but I don´t have a GF4 MX.

Overclocked system? When exactly do you get lockups... in 2D or 3D mode? Just freezing or something else?

Manufacturer and currently used driver revision would be helpful. Check the MSI site / FAQ for known problems with your motherboard. When and how does it lock up?
CPit wrote: I understand it could be a conflict with the motherboard whcih may require a BIOS upgrade.

That may be the case for me at any rate.

Is the MB an MS-6340 by any chance ?

There is a BIOS upgrade which fixes a prob concerning the GeForce MX card hanging.

I am now trying to work out how to go about ubgrading my BIOS (which is why I just joined this forum)
Upgrading BIOS is not too difficult, but I would check other suspects first. Might be an IRQ issue. What is your exact configuration (expansion cards etc)? What operating system are you using? Is ACPI enabled?
CPit wrote: p.s. I also get the message about nv.disp not being digitally signed when I check DXDIAG
You can safely ignore that.
