3ware ATA RAID Controller

Post by daswede »

Has anyone used one of the newest 3ware cards, 7500 or 8500 series? I am planning on purchacing one and was wondering if anyone can substantiate the performance they are stating. What numbers are you guys getting using a promise or adaptec card compared to this?

I think you are not able to get one of the 3ware controllers to work in the BP6, because it has no 64-bit PCI slots.

Bye!

You are in fact able to use them on the BP6 board:

  • Ultra ATA/133 interface (with ATA/33, ATA/66 and ATA/100 drive support)
64-bit ASIC design with fast on-board microprocessor
64-bit / 33 MHz PCI technology (32-bit PCI also supported)
    RAID levels 0, 1, 10, 5 and JBOD
Large array support up to 2 TB (48bit LBA for drives up to 256GB)
Hot swap and hot spare capability
Supports up to 12 drives through independent non-blocking switch ports
    Greater than 180 mb/sec performance on reads & 127 mb/sec writes
    Support for multiple operating systems
