strange things with GeForce 2 MX

Post by 2CeleronInABox »

I have temperature problems with my geforce 2 MX.
Since I own the pc it was in it and now it doesnt like the BP6 anymore.

I oc'ed it to 210 / 210 Mhz and everything worked well for months, years...but now it hangs up. Then I clocked it at stock speed.

But now it gets EXTREMELY HOT. the hole PCB even the memory and other capacitors on the PCB. (as i would say by touching it : 40~50°C)

in another system ( P3 500Mhz , VIA Chipset, AGP 2x) it worked well and i could play Cs and NFs 6 without problems for hours and it stayed cool , just handwarm.

sideeffects :

sometimes the system doesnt boot up win2k, with an DRIVER_IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL at the HPT366.sys.

it worked well for now 2 years, whats up with it ? i didnt mod the capacitors ...are they weaken or what ?

Yes, probably a capacitor or capacitors are failing and sending the wrong amount of power to the AGP slot. Check them out and don't use the AGP port until you’re sure it's getting the proper voltage.

Unless it is the GF2 itself, but you said it works without a problem in other machines.
