i have the same controller card (i think - by silicon image anyway). have you flashed the card with a new bios? maybe it came with a raid bios installed?

anyway go to http://www.siimage.com/home.asp and click the product support icon on the left. download the latest bios for the application you need (either raid or an ordinary ata controller card).

download your favourite bootdisk or grab one from http://freedos.sourceforge.net. follow the flash instructions on the silicon image site.

hopefully that's the problem. also grab the latest drivers and install those.

I have a ST Lab ata 133 silicon image sil 0680 controller card. This card however can not be bios flashed. Back to the topic at hand, I haven't had any trouble with it. I was running Win2K at the time I installed it. I do not recommend WinXP. Now I'm running win2003 server with no problems ether. When you installed the card, did you check to see if the card was installed properly under winXP "Device manager" ?? Any "!" or "?" anywhere??

Try downloaded the lasted drivers for this card as "Genseng" suggested and see what happens.

I've also discontinued using the on-board "HPT366" controller, as well as, flashed my bios so that it doesn't boot on start-up. Do you have any hard drives still connected to the on-board controller??

This my be one thing to consider as I've had nothing but trouble with the on-board contorller, hence the reason why I brought a new one.

I'm sure that it sounds like a driver conflict more then anything.
