Games on the BP6
Games on the BP6
This is not a video question, but I thought some game enthusiast may be here.
I've recently built a HTPC using BP6 w/ 2x500's, 384mem, 2x120gig HDs on promise raid, SBLive sound & Geforce MX440 video w/ TVout. I'm going to put this box in a vacation rental unit I have on the lake. I've got a huge library of xvid movies and now I want to put games on it for the kids on rainy days. I'm not a gamer so I'm looking for advise.
When I look at various games mostly I see minimum cpu speeds around 800. Can anyone recommend a site that will help me query games by minimum cpu speed?
Can anyone make recommendation of games they played on an unmodified BP6.

I have never heard of such a thing, but I think that a PC games specification database is a fantastic idea.
Perhaps you should start one, jakfr02?

Like BP6.com? Not a member?
Then why the hell not? It's great!

I can't count past 10...uh I mean 20..uh I mean 21.
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.
No BP6s remaining
Athlon 2800
Sempron 2000
ViaCPU laptop with Vista.(Works great after bumping ram to 2Gig)
P-III 850@100

umm..
how about we setup a database with all known working cards and configurations used for all sorts of stuff used on the BP6 (you know, games, cards which slot, what irq's etc etc)

I would stick with games from 2001 or before, or strickly 2 D games if more modern than that. The GeForce MX440 is a good Direct X 7 card, it was called a GF 4 card but it cannot run Direct X 8 games properly. I am assuming it has 128 MB ram ?
I guess what I am trying to say is stick with games that don't need more than 500 MHz, or a much more powerful card. For example, your computer would play Unreal just fine, Quake II, maybe EQ I, but BF 1942 would not run so great. I would start there, see if you can borrow a copy from a friend, and try it out. I use a lot of older computers, and yes some games run great on them, but they have to fit the era of the hardware you are going to use them on. Hope thet helps and Happy New Year.

Abit BP6 with Celeron 466 x2, 256 MB CAS 2 , G400 and Mandrake 9.1 runs great very stable !
