Hi everyone,
I had flashed the Roby RU BIOS with HPT V.128 and PIII support, just to check it out.
Then I got stuttering/sloppy sound when playing mp3s while the HD connected to the HPT was accessed. Also responsiveness decreased rapidly when I ran apps that do a lot of HD access like WinMX. Thought the new BIOS was to blame, and was ready to flash back to standard RU.
Then I noticed that the HPT reported the HD running in UDMA 4 Mode during bootup. UDMA 4 (100)? Well, since the HPT366 can only manage UDMA 3 (66), this surprised me. So I changed the setting in the HPT BIOS to UDMA 3, and everything´s fine now.
I don´t remember if the standard RU BIOS also defaulted to "UDMA 4", but I didn´t have any problems when I had flashed it.

Uh-oh! Didn´t know that. Thanks!Derek wrote:UDMA 5 is ATA 100. UDMA 4 is an accelerated ATA 66. Confusing, eh?
I´m still not sure if this is just a problem of this specific BIOS. Don´t have the time right now to try that with the standard RU, but I´ll do that ASAP.

Forget all that I said, the BIOS isn´t the culprit. I found the solution of my problem and posted it here.
