Bios doesnt recognize my hdd and cd drive

i bought a bp6 with 2 533mhz celerons. so now i have an 120gb wd hd an master and a cd drive on slave both on ide3 (udma66), but they werent recognize from the bios. i need help , wanna install gentoo today.

The first thing you'll want to do is move the CD-ROM drive to the regular IDE controller (IDE1 or 2). Second, you'll want to move your HDD to the regular IDE controller :lol:

Which BIOS version are you running?

When I bought a new hard drive for my BP6 I picked up a Promise ATA133 card to go along with it… You really can feel the difference in speed.

i think i have the latest RU , said the seller. i dont think i have an old 40 pin cable . :cry: . why doesnt ide3 work? which card should i buy?

I have a Promise TX2-ATA100 PCI card in my BP6. Agree with Derek: fast IDE cards are a great upgrade for this motherboard!

Some variants (the hacked ones) of the RU BIOS do not support IDEs 3 & 4. You may have one of those.

Whats the status of your system. Still trying the HPT366, or did you get the Promise?
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

No BP6s remaining
