Bios flashing newbie

Post by bwi »

Hi all

I've had some friends telling me its dead easy etc to flash my bios. Ive got a floppy with the latest bios RUHPT128 by roby and the files awdflash, abit fae and the bin file. My mate says it needs to be run from a dos prompt and files ive read say no command.com or autoexec.bak must be loaded. But, im'm running win2k and the only dos prompt i can get is within win2k or in safemode.

If i do this will win2k finally recognisee my USB ports as ive managed to last 3 years with my board like this, but with everything going USB plus a nice shiny Digi camera i need to get it working.

If all else fail please can you send me a link to an faq

thanks

If you have a bootable DOS floppy diskette, all you need to do is copy all the flash files into a directory on the floppy and after you boot from the diskette, change into the directory, run the flash program with the BIOS revision. Make sure you follow the flash instructions, carefully.

This link will help you make a DOS boot diskette from the Win2KPro CDROM:

Once you have created the boot floppy, you modify it to suit your needs.
