Powerleap S370 question

Post by Snugglebear »

Quick question: taking a P3-850 home with me along with a slot-1 adaptor to see if one of my parents' computers will take an upgrade. Just realized that I could also potentially use the S370 adaptor to test out another machine as well. Only problem is that the S370 has the trace on the back cut to work in the BP6 with SMP enabled. Think that would have any impact on single-CPU operation? Never tested it alone since then.

The PowerLeap Neo S370 adapter is designed for FC-PGA processors, not FC-PGA2 processors. The SMP modification is used if you are trying run two Pentium III (FC-PGA) processors. This is a physical modification to the Neo S370 adapter, itself.

qqonos, the CPU you purchased is not compatible with the BP6 - even with a NEO adapter. There is a slim chance it may work with a second ($13) adapter added on top of the NEO - converting the FCPGA of the NEO to FCPGA2. I'll be testing this on one of my BP6 systems using the P-III 1.266GHz/512K Tualatin CPU soon & posting results here. I have the 2ND adapters now & am shopping for the CPUs now on EBAY.
