Dual 500mhz celeron BP6 system

Post by kuun »

i have dual 500mhz celerons on my BP6

i tried overclocking and at 584MHZ my win98se froze..

also with MBM5 i cannot get my fans to readout..

i may sound like a newb, well to the SMP community i am but i know what things are.. so you dont have to give me the 101

i have the CPU fans plugged in the MB

i think the problem is they are only 2 wire fans.. someone told me they dont have a sensor.. anyhow

onto another subject..

when my FSB is @75 mhz i get 563 MHZ.. but wheni goto 78MHZ FSB i get 550MHZ.. whats with that? and if i goto 80 (to make it 600mhz) only once cpu will register during post and will not load windows.. but my question is.. why only one CPU and why is 78MHZ FSB 500 and 75 is 563?

kuun: Try upping the voltage on the CPUs for 80MHz. As for the MHz discrepancies, these are reported during post or in Windows?

havoc,

i dont know much aboutt he mods.. so explain to me about the VIT mod
and how do i check the stepping on both ships?

Daredevil,

what voltage should i increase it to? and the speed discrepencies happen during post... usually if i trry using 78-80FSB windows will hang before it can boot..

i dont understand what your meaning by the stepping..

are you talking about how the pins are setup or...?

pictures would be better (pics of bad stepping and good stepping or whatever)

You can find out the stepping with CPU-Z

kuun: If the voltage for both CPUs is currently at default (2.0Volts), try 2.05Volts. If that doesn't cut it, try 2.1Volts. If 78MHz (or any other speed) is as high as you can stably increase to, run SETI for at that speed a few days or weeks and then try upping the speed again. This will give the CPUs some time to burn in.

Don't pay much attention to what the post screen says you’re running at. When you get into Windows, load MBM of WinCPUID and check the speed there.

i have been playing star trek armadaII and it is a very CPU using game

i'll try upping the voltage and see what that does
