I am new member from thailand. Nice to meet you all.
Many thanks because mine very very slow
Can anyone guide me how to overclock notebook IBM R40????
Hello OatRR. Hope you're well.
It is not generally advisable to overclock notebooks. They tend to run very hot as it is, and the reduced airflow (as opposed to a desktop) means that sufficient cooling is not attainable if you overclock.
Are there any overclocking options in the BIOS setup? Usually with notebooks there are none.

Welcome aboard, OatRR.
Im with InactiveX on recomending to NOT OC a Thinkpad.
If you want more preformance...
1) add ram
2) upgrade to a faster HD
3) reduce the features and tools that load on bootup
4) eliminate any unnecessary apps that run in the background
Besides, the reason to have a notebook is mobility and OC'ing will cut battery life.
Good luck.

There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.
No BP6s remaining
Athlon 2800
Sempron 2000
ViaCPU laptop with Vista.(Works great after bumping ram to 2Gig)

Hi, I overclocked my work laptop using Softfsb, to be honest I would not recommend it, some laptops run apparently on the ragged edge to start with, I ran Softfsb from a floppy just in case the laptop fried so it would not leave incriminating evidence!
Good to see people still visiting....
my sad old BP6 (1 of 2) is still on www.lisney.org.uk
