fastest single CPU with power leap Neo s370?

Post by Goldmatch45 »

I have a single power leap Neo s370 and would like to know what would be the best single CPU choice. I did use the neo with a cel600 which is now spent. OCing is not a big concern because I'm trying to quiet down this box. I've read some threads about stacking adaptors & modding the board and I'm not intrested in going that route. Thanks for your help!

Goldmatch45,
Welcome to BP6.com
You will get different responses but it kind of depends on how much work and money you have.

Probably the best/simple choice would be a coppermine core Pentium III and UNDER-clock it to 66FSB...you did say you were trying to quit down the box.

It may be possable for you to use a different PSU that may make less noise.

There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

Thanks for the welcome,
I guess my question should be. what is the fastest chip I can use with just 1 neo and 1 CPU and no over/under clocking. Is it the it the cel 1.1 @ 100MHz?
thanks again for any and all help!

If you have one available should do nicely.

A full Pentium-III at the same speed would be faster because of internal design advantages. I posted then did some research. This is the last edit I will do on this post, leaving the following info.

The NEO S370 was made to adapt FC-PGA(Coppermine core) to the older PPGA(Medocino core) sockets.
If you were running that 600 on the BP6 your ok otherwise you may need a BIOS flash.

The VIA C3 line will work but you will be dissapointed with their preformance.

Tom's Hardware is a favorite for MOBO and CPU info.

PowerLeaps own site wasn't reall helpful but this link shows the NEO s370.

I did a search on PowerLeap Neos and look what came up
