well, it was the ram... prime95 ran for 12 hours with no errors, so now im overclocking it again... and i'll probably not have to increase the voltage as much in search of stability, so it might be cooler :D
i dont have enough free time anymore... college will do that.

Its the simple things in life that sometimes turns it into a nightmare.
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

I've got it running nicely at 550, and the temps are:
case: 41c cpu's: 37c
I know where the case temp sensor is, but i want to cool the chipset some more. I found a fan from a p2-300 that fits perfect and put it on, and to my surprise the green heatsink has springs on the pins, no thermal goop, and doesnt even sit flush (rocks back and forth). so monday im gonna sand the heatsink flat and smooth, and apply some thermal paste. Should I re-use the green thing or should i get an alternate cooler that fits (videocard) with a fan?

I got a video card hsf for mine. It was solid coper and had 3 different "bars" to choose from to clip it to the board. $11USD.

I send the greene to kuun. I think he collects stuff like that.

well, Im gonna see if i can get some water blocks while im at the computer store tommorow... cause im gonna water cool it now. No real reason, it run plenty cool, but like the topic says... I need a project. I have an explorer heater core, will that work ok or should i use a full rad? space isnt really a problem

heater core's are prefered because they're smaller... much smaller

full size radiator if you really want overkill, but that would mean more water and a stronger pump too plus fans and more space.

gimpy stick of ram. You need to set that thing on fire!

so, i've got the stability issues fixed... and im running suse as well as xp now. the only thing standing in the way of watercooling is the cost of waterblocks, i havn't seen one for less than $40 us... thats like $60cdn x2 plus shipping... and would be more than the rest of the computer was. If i just had a mill i could make some myself.......

grab some copper, your mill, and a full can of WD40 and crank out your own waterblocks!

You really only need a hacksaw, file, and maybe a drill.
You can make your copper plate/block, & file it smooth.
Then get some square or rectangular (cross section) copper tubing.
This can be bent to a pattern & silver soldered to the block.
Fill tube with sand to prevent collapsing on sharp bends.
Round off tube ends & attach hoses.
Suppliers of induction heating equipment sell this copper tubing.
Use a BIG FLAME torch & lots of flux with copper.
Heat near where wou want the silver solder, not right on the spot.
Zero point energy
