removing thermal cement

Post by bluliz »

i am desperate to find out how and if indeed possible. i had a 533cel givin to me about a year ago but the hat sink is fixed to it.

last week i found a second 533cel at a computer fair for £10.

i could try a hammer but this would involve the chip becoming an odd shaped keyring

i can say thet the 533 and heatink have not been used for nearly 2 years, but before then where used in a school for about 2-3 years.

help

I do not think it is possible getting thermal interface of celerons out....

you may lap to full copper and that is the best you can do with them. I actually saw somewhere on the net the guy who lapped it through till the crystal... of course it did not work afterwords...

Good luck, if you try and remove this, please post your fotos of your failure.. (probably... :))))

all went well i removed the cpu from the heatsink with a large swiss army knife, and lapped both of the cpus down to the copper.

right put them it place my AMD coolers on and turned it on, whoohoo it booted and show 533Mhz x2, started overclocking, got them to 550, thats was it, they posted at 600 but locked before loading windows.

i put the 400s back in as they overclock better(higher bus so faster ram)

i will put picture of my success up soon

bluliz,
hey guy, I had 500s that i couldn't oc at all. Even tried raising to 2.2v. at75FSB they would boot into Wni2Kpro but unstable. However at 500 they were rock solid at 1.85v.
I gave them up for some 366s. Mendocino core hits a wall at about 550. I think thats why Intel abandond that core instead of pushing it past 533.
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

No BP6s remaining
