Dual PIII-S 1.4GHz Tualatin on BP6?

Post by BCN »

Hi, guys!

It's been a while that I did not write here...

Well, today I have just got a pair of 1.4GHz PIII-S, completely new and still F..... expensive.

I took UpgradeWare GU370 adapter, stacked it into powerleap Neo-S370 and on top of them one of the Tualatins. I have did not change anything, did not mod anything on the board neither on adapters.

Guess what? No boot, no beep, nothing... I actually did not expect it to be easy. 8)

Has anyone here any ideas, should I mod anything, or maybe I should not use GU370 adapter... Are there any other FCPGA2-FCPGA capable of SMP or even FCPGA2-PPGA?...

waiting for your answers and suggestions, thanks! :D

I am using RU bios, did not try RV BIOS yet.

Also I did not set the voltages in bios to 1.4V before swapping CPU's, just wanted to get the fast look. no mouse, no keyboard, no HDDs or floppydrive... just hooked it to the power and the monitor. to get or not to get the beep and post.

Is it a modified BIOS or stock BIOS?

actually I do not remember if it is one or either... it was SO long that I have flashed it... :) though it seems that it is with the PIII microcode included... just really do not know...

though just got additional mouse, keaboard and the screen :) I will do some testing in the weeks to come.

Oh, I wish I hade more spare time... :)

i can announce that it works!!!!!! :) I did not mod neo370 adapter for dual usage yet, and just tried with one processor.

the problem probabaly was both BIOS without microcode and POOR contact between the adapter and processor - I was just afraid to push it really hard....

please post what do I need to do with neo adapter for dual usage for PIII.

It posts at 100 FSB but no way at 133 - it seems to be caps/BX/voltage regulators/PSU (it has one weak yet) issue...

I will upload some shots at night after the work!!!!

It HAS posted at 133FSB without any mods but at 1.3V, though video card just refused to send a signal to the monitor.... it seems that it IS the problem with the voltage regulators - to little amperage for all the things...

I will need it to get reworked...

Does anyone knows the place in europe for good caps and voltage regulators?

Please, I need the help on modding for the maximum stabilization of the mobo :)

thanks. pics will be later :)
