Need help, PIII 733, not posting at 133mhz FSB?

Post by gadflyii »

Hello all,

I have two identical p3, 733/133fsb chips, and I am trying to use the neo s370 converters, if I insert both CPU's nothing happens, (this is because I bought these S370's before they fixed SMP issues) If I just use the single CPU, I can boot at 66, 100, and 124mhz fsb's but if I set it to 133, no post. I have PC133 memory... What gives?

Any help, tips, suggestions?

You'll never be able to run one or both of the PIII's at 133MHz FSB, because the BP& can't handle such a high FSB 124MHz is max in single PU configuration. SO i would try to sell both CPU's and get PIII's with a 100MHz FSB.

The NEO370 adapter was never able to run Dual pIII on the BP&, you'll have to do some other modifications. Take a look here.

Realisticaly, the BP6 is not likely to run reliably with the FSB set faster than 110MHz. This means a CPU with a FSB spec for 133 will be underclocked by a factor of 110/133 => .827
Your 733MHz chips will drop back to 606MHz in this senario.
This is why the Celeron 366 chips were so poplar as they could be boosted by the factor of 110/66 in the best cases.

Have yor already done the dual-P-III mods? and obtained socket adapters? If not, the single P-III/1100E/256 CPU may be your best option if you can find one at a decent price.
