Bp6 will not turn on unless ccmos jumper set to clear...

Post by badinfo »

Im not sure what is cuasing the problem. But my bp6 will no longer even power up the fans unless the clear cmos jumper is set to clear. when this is done, the fans and drives turn on, but the system does not post. When the jumper is reset to normal operation, the board will cease to function alltogether. Any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome to BP6.com, badinfo !

Could be bad capacitors. Do you see any bulging, dis-coloured, ozooing associated with any of the larger voltage regulator capacitors? The ozoo will be a brownish-red colour (electrolyte). They are the taller radial electrolytic capacitors around the CPU's and elsewhere on the CPU side of the mainboard.

This site has alot of information about this problem:

yeah you know those really pretty black and grey green and silver cylinder type thingies all over the board... do they look like they threw up?

if so.. you will need to perform emergency capacitor replacement
