Just looking to do single PIII 800EB on BP6

Post by Catrinisin »

Hi all, I'm new here and so far I really like this site!

From what I can find on here, I will need the PowerLeap NEO S370 adapter to do this. Is the adapter all I need for a single CPU implementation or do I need a BIOS flash as well?

Another question, what FSB speed can this board handle? The PIII 800EB is 133 FSB I believe, so will this work?

Thanks!

i believe the highest a BP6 has reached is 133mhz

124mhz that was recorded stable (iirc)

yes you will need the bios with the micro code and an s370 adapter (or a lin-lin) for the p3 to work

also you will need to do some modifications to the socket (wires on the bottom of the board)

Thanks for the info. I'm just not sure if this is worth it. I know I can do it, but is there really a good performace increase? Has anyone performed the upgrade that can attest to this?

Thanks

Catrinisin -> Kuun is wrong - no socket mod is needed with (1) P-III CPU! Just the adapter.

Kuun, if you are going to advise on things you have not done, at least read the posts of those who have to get the info right.

The 800EB is a bad choice for the BP6 since you will end up
UNDERCLOCKING this at 110/133 factor (few get BP6 FSB past 110MHz)

The BIOS update for P-III microcode is right on the mark & do it before you pull the Celeron(s) - don't forget to disable all VID & BIOS caching!!

iirc you have to do the wire mod on the bottom of the board. in order to use the p3's

or is that jsut for SMP?

if it's jsut for smp im sorry i was wrong in that matter..

i try to be as accurate as i can

thanks for the correction (can't provide good info if you never knew yours was wrong)

That's only necessary for SMP.
