The 466 and 700 use different cores. Is there a slot 1 700MHz celeron available?

Ugh, Slot 1 :P

You hit the nail on the head when you said it's a flip chip. You will need the FC-PGA to PPGA adapter and then the slot 1 adapter. The slot 1 adapter could be a hindrance later on down the road, but theoretically everything should work (you just need another adapter).

If you continue digging you’ll probably find someone tried to do the same thing you’re working on and list the steps involved. Maybe someone else on the message board even.
