Is there a 100uF capacitor in EC10? Also check and see if your board's voltage regulators are improper - there are a bunch of guides out there that specify what you should have, Yochiro's is one of the better ones.

Had the same issues with my machine when I put one or two P3s in. Swapped out the dinky cap in EC10 for a 2200uF unit and it works fine with 2 P3s.

Voltage drops cause the hardware to suspend operations, which is OS independent. The freezes and reboots will continue in the bios, in Win9x, in WinNT, solaris, bsd, etc. As for the actual replacements of caps, it isn't that hard at all. I had a buddy of mine with 20x the experience with small electronics watch over my shoulder, but I didn't need much help. Just make sure you have a solder-sucker on hand, as sometimes gobs can get stuck in the holes and not want to let up.
