Underclocking Celeron 366

Hi,

As a long time BP6 user, I've had my 366s running at 550 for almost 4 years now. Trouble is that with the fans on them, they're damn noisy, and piss my flatmate off something terrible.

Does anyone have any experience running 366 without fans? Is it possible at 366, or do you need to underclock it?

I know it's not as exciting as trying to get 1.4ghz or something, but any help would be _really appreciated (my flatmate will love you forever).

Are you running stock fans right now? Or something more expensive?

I suggest clocking the processors back to stock speed, under-volt a tad, and then use a Fan RPM Adjuster program to slow them down a little bit.

You reckon it'd be impossible to do it without fans????

Well, I've never tried. You could probably position one case fan to blow across the two (fan-less) Celeron heat sinks making it more quite than before…

I'm sure you will be able to lower the fan speed to a satisfactory level, if it's a barely active server than you won't have any problems.
