I say you got a good deal!
Well as to noise, for starters, the high RPM fans for the CPUs are often very noisey.
When my wife made me quiet my loudest BP6 system, that's where I started. I replaced the Alpha coolers with (2) Evercool-715 copper+70mm fan coolers $16US each. I added Zalman fan speed controllers ($6 EA) to slow down the 70mm fans just a little. I replaced all (2) the case 80mm fans with Vantec Stealth fans ($5 EA). I replaced the power supply with an Enermax 350W quiet dual fan unit ($60). I lined the inside of the case with self-adhesive sound absorber foam ($10). I replaced the Hdisk with quiet series Seagate 80GB ATA-IV with fluid dynamic bearings. Results are good, but it did cost quite a bit of cash.

Hi Norm,

Try any of these, I've used them and had no problems.

Most of your noise is coming from your fans. You can drop the RPM's on them or go passive. The Zalman passive heatsinks are very popular and noiseless. As RRLedford said, Lining the inside of your case with sound absorber can help.

Good luck.
