BP6 Dies - Acorp Dual-P3 w/RAID replaces.

Post by RRLedford »

My first of (3) BP6 boards (the newest) has died the bad CAP death.
Since I had already won ($40) an EBay auction for the ACORP Dual P3 FCPGA1 board with Promise ATA100 RAID-Lite controller integrated, I swapped it in for the dead BP6.
Moved all my H/W right over from the BP6 - P-III/1100E (minus Neo370), 384MB PC133, GF2MX400-64MB, Maxtor 80GB, Kenwood ATA 52X CDROM, LG DVD ROM, Adaptec USB 2.0, MS-Nat Pro USB KB, MS-Intellimouse USB optical, SMC Wireless LAN USB 11Mb.
Ran the WInXP-Pro Install/Repair on the old drive and everything came right over! The OC speed increments are rather limited, going from 110Mhz to 115Mhz as the top FSB speed of the middle "jumper range' of the three - 66Mhz, 100MHz, & 133Mhz. Right now it runs stable at 110Mhz=>1.21GHz. At 115Mhz the Nvidia driver gives BSODs sayng that the vid card went into an infinite loop. I'm going to try to boot at 133MHz today & see it the P-III/1100 can handle 1.43Ghz.
Next, I shop for a 2ND P-III/1100E (no soldering or NEO thank you)
If the P-III/1100E can't be found, it's Dual Tualatin with Upgradeware adapters for me.
I'll post progress for those BP6-ers about to loose their boards & looking for an alternative similar bargain design
