There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

if that's a bp6, that would be after you added the 512 to the two 128's it still showed as 256.

a BP6 won't take a 512 anything.....
it takes a double sided 256 at most for 3 x 256 = 768Mb

a single sided 256 will show as 128

Getting back to the topic, it is not as simple in actual practice as some posts above may suggest :
I have four 256MB memory sticks, one of which has chips on one of its sides only, while the remaining three have chips on both sides. I have noticed that all four of them get recognised as 256MB when put (in succession, of course) in position DIMM1 of the BP6. In positions DIMM2 and DIMM3 all get recognised as 128MB. This is why I would like to hear from somebody who actually has got the a 256MB stick working in positions DIMM2 and DIMM3. It is of no use for me to buy more sticks, if they do not work in positions DIMM2 and DIMM3.

I have a BP6
it is my SetiQ server
it has 3 x 256 dbl sided memory chips
it shows 768 mb

I bought 256 singles, and went hmmmm, 128mb, oh yeh, d'oh, stupid me.
and had to buy more, and now I have 256 singles I can't use.

ended up putting themin a friend's Piii and taking his dbl sided's in a swap.
he still has 768, now I do too. ;-)

Dave Rave is correct. :D 2-128s and a 512@256 is what I have in my BP6. I misspoke  and of course while editing my post guess what???
My first random reboot  happened since adding the 512 that shows up as a 256, and OCing the 366 from 66 to 92FSB.
