Resistance increases as temp rises, yes. As for the location of the 3rd sensor, it's somewhere between the AGP slot and processor sockets. It doesn't look like the other probes... hell, it was 2 years ago when I looked for it and found it.
Have you tried holding insert on boot or clearing the bios? It may just have a low/invalid warning setting.
