David,

You might wish to take a peek at the following page:

http://www.48bitlba.com/faq.htm#FAQ3

I don't know how relevant it is because it mentions the HPT 372 controller which is much newer than the HPT 366 which is found on the BP 6. Just for a quick test with my own BP 6, I connected a WD1600 (149 GB) to the HPT controller and booted into DOS where I ran an old utility developed by Intel which I acquired somewhere which is "supposed" to be able to test for 48-bit LBA compatibility. The utility isn't foolproof and doesn't really provide much information about add-in drive cards or motherboard SCSI adapters like the HPT controller. It did however say that the HPT BIOS reported my drive as 128 GB rather than the 149 which should have been reported. I am using a motherboard BIOS which has embedded HPT v 1.25 BIOS so a later HPT BIOS might have reacted differently.

The article you sent a link for is very interesting, somewhat confusing too!
I can't remember which Highpoint Bios is on the BP6 in question, (runs without a video card so will have to check another day). I guess I really ought to look towards backing some of the data up, before it all screws up!
