Got myself another BP6 motherboard!

Post by purrkur »

I don't have it in hand yet but I hope that will happen sometime this week. I am not sure what version it is but I am getting two 333MHz celerons with it. Anybody have any experience with those?? I got a pair of 400MHz processors as well so I'll have plenty of stuff to fool around with....

112FSB comming right up for 333@560.

Any good PC133 will proly go CL2 at 112fsb.
That wil give about a 10% OC on the PCI/AGP cards as well. You may have the fastest setup in the world.
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

I got my new BP6 this morning along with other parts. I received the following:

1. Sound Blaster AWE 64 Gold (goot old ISA card with high quality - shame about the ISA part)...

2. ATi 3D Rage Pro AGP 2x graphics adapter w/ 8 gigs of memory

3. 3com 3C905B-TX PCI NIC.

4. 2 Celeron 366MHz CPU's. The seller had mentioned 333MHz but he obviously didn't know what he was talking about.

5. 2 cpu fans (one intel based and one similar but not Intel based)

5. BP6 version 1.1 produced in 1999. That version 1.1 is a shame. Those are worse than the 1.0 model like the one I got at home.

After I checked the motherboard quickly here I can say that it has got one leaking cap and 4 bulging caps. The seller mentioned none of this when trying to sell it.

I bought all of the above for 300 SEK/$40/£22 so I can't really complain.

So this means that I got myself a pair of 366 MHz Cellys and a motherboard that I will have to modify no matter what. Maybe I will modify it to accept PIII's? I'll have to look into that one....

Wow, an 8gig AGP card! That must cost a fortune! And I thought there were no 333 celerons except for slot 1???? :?: :?:

My 400s love 92fsb for 552mhz. YMMV.

Yeah! And the seller promised it would rock at Doom3!!

Me too. That is why I asked about experiences for that in my first post. Reread point 4 in my second post :)

My 400's are very easy too but I haven't tried 92 MHz yet though.

You do know I was just busting on the gig thing, as I think you meant meg instead, right?

Good luck with your new bp6!

Doh! I had missed that one :D I won't edit it though for the sake of the thread!

Thanks! It is going to be fun. Now if I can only find the time....

Yeah! BogoMips are great! It is effectively a measure of how fast your processor does nothing :D

But then again, are there any real benchmarks out there that cannot be questioned?

92FSB is underclocking the AGP/PCI items. It should be stable as long as the cpus are ok. Any of our celerons should be ok up to about the 550 range without doing anything special. Try 96FSB on those 400s.

I fixed up a pc for one of my kids. I put in a socket 370 celeron.
Its a 333@500 on 100FSB. Everything is stock and it was a PC-Chips LMRT741 board. No hardware problems for her in nearly a year.
There are some NON-slot 333s out there.
