Mention of our beloved BP6 in the media

Post by purrkur »

I found this article in The Enquirer that mentions our beloved BP6:
And many geeks still carry fond memories of Abit's BP6 motherboard which was the first true mainstream dual processor.
They have made some serious errors though:
It used a VIA 694x and was so popular a website was dedicated wholly to that product and it still continue to exist as of today
The link they got goes here.

So I sent the writer a note that looks like this:

Subject:
Your "Celeron 335D, the disguised Willamette" article contains errors
Mail:
Hello Desire!

You said that the BP6 used VIA 694x which is not correct. It actually uses the good old faithful BX chipset from Intel.

It would also have been better that your link should have gone directly to "http://www.bp6.com" instead of the link you provided.

Respectfully,

David Thorarinsson

I got a reply from the author...

My fault - Genuine fault.

Sorry for the link also...
The article has not been updated yet at least.

Very cool.

The VIA 694x is used on the VP6 :) At least he acknowledged your email.

Thanks purrkur!

Those that refuse to follow are destined to lead!!!!
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

No BP6s remaining
