BP6 CPU speed prob

Post by Nutz »

Powered up my BP6 today for the first time in about a year. Now it'll only boot at 5.5x100, everything else results in a CPU speed of 458 with FSB 83 and 1:1 on AGP/PCI.
My cellys are 366's and have been running at FSB 100 since I got em like 5 years ago.. CPU temps are, now, around 50C.. Thats idle temps!

Better take it apart and check it out, dont want my lil baby dying on me

Edit:
Belive I've located a problem.. One of those Tayeh caps around socket 1 has leaked fluis and is bulged.
Think I'm gonna replace all the caps around the sockets because if one of them is leaking now then sooner or later one or more will do the same.

Any advice on what brand or values? It's one of those 6.3v 1500uf, should I just stick with those?

see post for "vp6 and bulging caps"

looks like several recent discoveries of BAD CAPICITORS.
There are *almost* no bad BP6s. There are mostly bad caps.

No BP6s remaining
