think I killed BP6!

Post by jaybird »

I just completed the EC10 and voltage regulator change-out on a BP6.

Now when I boot it up floppy drive light stays on and I get as far as

"verifying DMI pool data...........Success" and system hangs, will not goto boot disc and floppy light stays on.

Any ideas?

You may have installed the floppy cable upside down.

Im not at my BP6 at the moment, but you might also need to go into the bios and goto pci settings or something like that and set the option to "reset config data" or something like this. As I said Im not at my bp6 but I will check when I get home.

It normaly helps if mine wont boot after changing say a network card.

Thanks Derek!

Of interest to all? After fixing "dead" board, I can now boot up at 605!

These 366's have never gone over 571 dual and 594 single!

Version 1 board, 2 366's, FEP-32's, Arctic Silver

Thats right, air cooled only!

Now to finish conversion to dual 1100E's. I'll keep you posted.

Partial Success

Post by jaybird »

I just completed the PIII mods and it will fire up at 1209 (110 Mhz)!

However, even though it sees poth CPU's to set FSB and voltage in the soft menue, when it continues on, it sees only one when it continues boot.

Even stranger, it doesn't matter which CPU I pull, it will still boot up.

Guess I won't be returning the new Gigabyte dual 370 board I just bought.

Oh well, at least I can go 605 dual and use it as a server, backup machine.

It sees only one CPU at what point during the process?

only sees one cpu

After I have left the soft bios and set cpu voltage and fsb, it shows number of CPU's as ", 1" (this is with cap replaced, new voltage regulator and one wire connecting 2 pins on the back of the board on each socket and the modified 370's plus 1100E's in place).

At this point of the boot if I have my 2 366's in the screen sees 2 CPU's,
not 1 (with no wires on the sockets on the back side of the board).

This is the first screen during the boot-up.
