Dead Board?

Post by Shotgun Fu »

I got a basically free BP6 a while back and I've been fiddling with it trying to get it working. I have a know good C366 and known good RAM. I've tried both PCI and AGP cards with it and neither seem to work. I doesn't even POST. I've tried the CPU in both sockets and I've moved the RAM around as well.

Is there anything else I should try before I toss a couple of dead PI's in the board, throw in some dead RAM and hang it on the wall?

Check all the capacitors on the motherboard. Dead or dying capacitors may leak or bulge and need to be replaced.

The caps all look OK... I'll give them a closer look though.

I looked carefully at all the caps and they look fine. Any other ideas anyone?

Try to boot with an isa graphics card, maybe your bios is corrupt.

I tried an ISA card. Still no go. I don't even get beep codes. I think it may well be truly dead. I'll put it aside for the moment pending further insperation but I think I may have a cool board for my wall.
