What is the fastest chip that can be put in a BP6 (1 cpu)

Yes, I think it should work but you will need a powerleap neo s370 adapter. I don't know the specs on that chip but I think you'll probably have the best chance of sucess if you use a chip that runs on a 100MHz FSB.

You could add a 2nd Cele1/366 if your OS can support SMP dual CPUs
Let me just say that a 1.1GHz Cele2/128K/100 with Neo-370 adapter will set you back about $95 in the USA. I've just finished moving my BP6 FSB speed up to 110MHz, and Win-XP is running just fine at 1.21GHz! Not bad for a 3-year old system. The 1.1GHz P-III is better but not being sold new anymore. They do show up regularly on E-Bay used for ~$150.
I've just ordered (2) 1.1GHz Pentium-III's 256k/100 and will be retiring the old CPUs from both my other dual Cele1 BP6 systems (four 366 Mhz chips 2@505Mhz & 2@466Mhz). The two (used) P3s cost me $125 each & the NEO-370 adapters plus (2) premium copper CPU coolers will add another $100. So, for $175/per system I get another year of life form my dear BP6 systems.
Assuming these two P3 CPUs will also OC to 1.2+GHz, and knowing that I can still do the DUAL-P3 mod later, is there any happier owner of (3) three-year old motherboards in the world -maybe not!

No, if they are 256K cache & 133Mhz FSB & .13 micron --- they are NOT BP6 compatible. They are overclockable to around 1.2GHz or more.
If you need the 256K cache, the P-III 850E-1100E chips are what you need & they are getting harder to find every month.
So, could I just drop a PIII 1100E chip into my Powerleap? What other mods (hardware and software) would I have to make? Yes, just the NEO & (1) P-III/1100E is all you need.
I'm suggesting you also get an EverCool 715 or 725 CPU cooler w/70mm.
Arctic Silver-III paste also good idea. Copper CPU shim - worth $2.
These are all three for ~$25 at www.nexfan.com
Even if you aren't going to DUAL or OC the new P-III/1100E, the primo cooling is good insurance for stability and for the pricer CPU.
I used the Ron's RU with P3 microcode & 1.251 HPT. I'm going to change to the RU BIOS+P3 code with HPT lobotomized ASAP!
I've not had good luck at OCing the P-III/1100E. Can't even boot if the FSB is set to 100MHz or more. Boots OK at 98MHz & I can then speed it up to as much as 102MHz so far. This system was only dual366@505 before, so maybe I need better chipset cooling (ordered). At 100MHz the Hdisk LED goes solid & all is frozen. Using a Promise ATA100 card with Maxtor 40G/5400 drive. HPT366 is running nothing, but I think it is still pooping on my parade. Vid card is Geforce2/64MB/MX200 + extra cooling. Maybe the Promise card can't handle the bus speed?

Well, my P-III/1100E upgrade has reached 1210MHz/110FSB and is stable. I'll be running some SiSoft Sandra benchmarks today before I test the uncharted water of 124MHz FSB.
