eBay Auction

Post by Dave Rave »

don't you just have days when you just can't resist baiting someone  :bigroll:

it starts with the auction

and I politely wrote him
"it has onboard ata66 controller"
"but it ain't raid"

it's gone seriously downhill from there. ;-) :screwy: :rude:

don't tell me you are a help desk person, please!

knows what he is talking about.

well, after that, I wrote him and said "send the check" and posted this up.

*David sends an email also saying it hasnt got raid.
See what he spouts to me.
Hi,
I believe you have made a slight error when advertising this product. The board in question, Abit BP6, does not have raid, and was never made with raid.
The board does however have an extra IDE controller with ata66 capabilities allowing people to get better transfer speeds than using the BX chipset that the board uses. The extra controller uses a Highpoint HPT360 chipset, which is not a raid chipset. This explains the extra two IDE headers on the motherboard, which happen to be the white ones.

I feel it is unfair to advertise the board as having raid when it does not.

Regards
David Baker

He also has an Abit KA7-100 board
apparently this is now Slot 1 with raid
though the spec sheet says Slot A with 4 ide ports.

I've been outbid on the bp6, £50GBP, urk....
for a raid board, maybe, that's a lot of mooler for an old bp6

ppl bid on the bp6.... so I bid heaps. £543.21 and got it for £62
asked him how much with the £62 rebate for being right about the raid, he hasn't responded yet. 8)

more on the Abit KA7 :D
Dave Rave wrote:man, you got to do more research.
4 ide ports does NOT equal Raid.
the KA7 is not a Slot 1 board,
it's Slot A

it has 4 ide ports, like the BP6, but NOT raid.

If you keep this up, maybe eBay should be told you aren't that good a
seller and should be revoked ;-)
eBay Seller wrote:You are definitely wrong there mate the ka7 is definitely a slot 1.
I know the difference between a slot 1 and slot a .
Dave Rave wrote:are you going to quit while you are so far behind or make yourself look worse ?
how can you tell a slot from a slot ?

you already owe me a free bp6
he's only been eBay registered since Feb
I think he needs de-registering

Right. So he's selling a computer component on eBay. I suppose that means he's in the computer industry. Loosely. Well sort of. If you think about it in a certain way. But don't think too hard about the definitions of "computer" and "industry". Or about anything else for that matter.

As always with eBay, I suppose it's a case of caveat emptor.

Dave Rave,
If he pays up are you conna consider "mentoring" the poor guy. He may actually be trying but just has to much pride to say he doesn't know something.

Or maybe you can tell him, "Smee again goan..." :rude:

Hey guys,
don't get too caught up in the moment here. If this guy give bad feedback, it will stay on your record even if he is wrong.

So far my only bad experience is ...when I got my BP6. it was advertised as having 256meg but only had 128. I e-mailed the guy and he said he would send a 256 but so far i havent heard back since giving my address.

I'm asking eBay questions about mis-representation of goods
non-delivery of items after winning and "paying" for them
etc.....

I think I pointed him here..... bbak
yup, I pointed him to http://www.bp6.com
but he hasn't read the links to abit-usa yet, otherwise he'd have changed the +RAID to something more appropriate.
don't forget the KA7 board with raid and slot 1 !!!!
some1 has been sold a dud and they should not be happy

That’s looking more like it.
Shame he hasn’t added a link to here on the auction, he would actually benefit from that.
