I think I did a bad thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by Slagathor »

Ok, it started with me using one of my CPU's for folding, so I was going to transfer the WU's for that CPU to my AMD.
I am using SetiStash, so I told it I wanted 4 more WU's cached when I seen one there already done. So I sent it in.....
A short time ago I dloaded the bench from Ares and ran it, well, thats the one sent in............

I hope I have not done a bad thing here..........................

You uploaded the benchmark wu? I'm surprized it accepted it at all. I'm sure a few others have turned that wu in before as well. I once copied wu's from one machine to another, then later ended up trying to send the ones from the first machine in. It told me duplicate work unit.

It should be fine. If not then alians will come to your house and probe you

But, I decided to try running 2 seti's on my AMD machine, and it doesn't look like it has slow'd them too much.
I will keep it like this for a few more days and see what happins.....

i use a program called setihide

it's a cahceable program that will run multiple cmd line clients simultaniously without any decrease in process time, it also will show you at any given time the processing rate and the past processing rate via line graph... very nice program

I went and snagged Setihide.
I currently have 2 SetiStash folder's with 4 and 3 cache's of WU's.
Can I just copy the cache folder into Setihide dir. and let it fly, or is there something else I must do?????

I read the directions on it's site, but I dont think it really explained much....

ok so you have cached wu's, that are done, not done, half done, what you do is, notice how setihide stores it's caches, wu_cache_#, to keep your caches, all you have to do is create another folder with the wu_cache_* part and fill the "*" with the next corrosponding number in the series, then look in setihide and bam, you got your wu's

Thanx again dood.................

One more question, will this send in completed WU's right when there done???????
Or will it wait for me to tell it too????

ok...

this is where you have to goto the settings screen and you will see "connection mode" click on the current slected mode and then select "offline"

this will ensure that no wu's are sent before you tell them to

now to send WU's when you are ready,

go to the cache section, select the catches you want to send, right click and choose a "flush" option, (fetch it to get new uncrunched wu's)

ok

2 things i see wrong there,

and one i told you about

one is, select the "idle (default, recommended)" and make it normal, *WARNING* setting it to high can cause your system to stop responding

and the one i told you about,

select "online" and make it read "offline" that way you dont submit wu's before your ready to..

atm i have 18 stored WU's on this machine and 4 on my old p266

as far as using proxies... i dont know how to set that up, you'll have to talk to hal about that

Sorry, I am restricting it to team member use only. You can only be a member of one group last I looked.

Think of it this way. BP6/VP6 User Group is placed 44th of all SETI teams. HAL is the top dog of our group with 71500 units. I am in 23rd place with 7600 units. How does your group compare with that.
