I don't know what to say.

Can you imagine how much more powerful our team would be if everyone was crunching? I mean... We're still climbing with on 1/4 of the team active!!

It gives me goose pimples.

With 158 : 635 active:inactive memebers, 19% crunching away. We are actually loosing ground to other teams. Check out the team rankign stats. here to see what I mean. We were once as high as #36 in all teams and we have fallen to #42 soon to be #43 in about 10 days. It would be amazing if all of the inactive members were crunching 1 or 2 wu's a day. If al lthe inactive guys did 2 wu's a day that would be another 1270 wu's a day. Putting us in the 3000 wu's a day range. :D

All you are doing when you run seti is "crunching numbers" It is a program to take raw data and turn it into somewhat useful data.

Might be worth putting a request on the main BP6 page. There are probably people using the forum who have never bothered with SETI :!: Are there any inactive SETI members who have recently posted on the forum :?:

Those of us that are doung liek 100 per day have several machines crunching away. My fastest machine is my 2Ghz@2.5Ghz that I have at home. It averages a nice 2 hrs and 45 minutes per wu. The slowest I have is a pentium 233 that takes 1 day 12 hrs. Currently I have 40 machines running seti 24/7 and I'm averaging 93 or so wu's per day.

Depending on the machine you have you may be able to tweak things to run faster. The bigest thing to bump up your speed is to use the winnt command line instead of the gui screensaver. The nt client works fine on 95/98/me/nt/2k/xp.

If you are not using it you can Click Here then look for i386-winnt-cmdline.exe[/url]

I just ordered an AMD 1700+ and 512 megs PC2700 ram and a KX7-333.
And yes, it will crunch for BP6/VP6 user group......
The duel 533 will be getting taken down but not out, I am using 1 of the CPU's to build my Dad a machine, that will crunch weither he likes it or not...:P
And the other, a friend of mine will most likely buy, and part of the deal is to crunch for our group........
My 366 machine will go to the children to play games on but will also still crunch.....
Another friend just got a PC and wants me to help him with it, I told him payment will be crunching Seti's for me.........

/me needs more PC's

I'm giving my sister, well we really jsut adopted eachother so we are not related, a new computer for one of her x-mas gifts. Just a 1.7Ghz Celeron with 256MB 266 DDR. Not to bad, it does 4 wu's a day running 24/7. Still slower then my 1Ghz notebook or 1.4ghz p4 but she doesn't do to much puter stuff other then mirc, browsing, and her college homework.

I don't see that happening as the board is an intel board ;)

Hey it was $30 on ebay and has everything but a modem built in which is just fine for my sister.
